About the Artist Gail Cleveland
GAIL CLEVELAND had an early introduction to the world of art when as a young child she accompanied her mother, artist Wini Smart, to museums, galleries, and on painting excursions.
Living in Maine, summers, and Florida, winters constantly inspires; being able to paint outdoors year round is a must for this artist. In addition to her formal art training, this third-generation artist has been studying art and nature for over forty years. Her firsthand experiences are expressed in her award-winning watercolors, oils, acrylics, and limited edition prints, now included in numerous collections throughout the United States and Europe.
Gail and her husband Terry Waite own and operate both art galleries. In addition Gail teaches the art of plein air painting teaching summer courses in Maine and winter courses in Florida, taking groups out into the field to experience nature firsthand. Recently Gail’s large scale landscapes were chosen to decorate the presidential suite at the Bar Harbor Inn during a vacation taken by President Obama and his family.
Gail Cleveland attended the Philadelphia College of Art and has studied with the artists Don Stone, Tom Nicholas, Foster Caddell, and Alvero Castagnet. Gail’s e-mail address is:
